LONGER BIO
Harriet Low (she/they) was born and grew up in Maine. Since then they’ve lived in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island—a true New Englander. When it comes to books, sharp banter, truth that’s stranger than fiction, and intimate stories that make you feel as if you’re living with a character really lay them flat in the best of ways. That goes for television, too! Having been a type one diabetic for thirty years, they’re always excited to read and write chronically ill and disabled characters. Their first graphic novel, Pins and Needles, stars a diabetic protagonist whose start to sixth grade isn’t turning out how she imagined. Nicole Miles is illustrating.
Harriet edits books for a living. They’ve worked with small publishers, mid-sized publishers, digital reading platforms, and really BIG publishers. Currently, they’re at Penguin Workshop, where they work on children’s and young adult books across age range and genre.
When they’re not reading or working, Harriet’s probably eating something delicious (they have a prodigious sweet tooth), hanging out with their dog (his name is Milo), or spending time with their friends and family (they also have names). They’re a slow but happy hiker, a dance party enthusiast, a Diet Coke fiend, and an accidental killer of houseplants. Some of their favorite pastimes are watching the Red Sox, trying out new shades of lipstick and hair dye, and playing tennis.
